A contemporary minimalistic fashion brand LITKOVSKAYA reveals its Autumn 2015 season collection entitled CARROUSEL 4.20. Ukrainian fashion designer Lilia Litkovskaya was inspired by the recent Hokusai exhibition presented at the Grand-Palais in Paris, where was shown a culture clash of east and west- silk meets denim and geisha goes raving.
As you can see Litkovskaya explores traditional kimono, by reworking it into voluminous wide-sleeved coats and asymmetric dresses. You are gonna see utilitarian turtlenecks worn underneath delicate sleeveless dresses with exaggerated belts, loose robe-dresses with graphic appliqués in delicate black silk, oversized coats with two-dimensional color patchwork, massive double-sided coats with muff-sleeves, high-waist flares, loose tops in navy blue denim, reversible fine cashmere sweatshirts with exaggerated sleeves, etc. I am in love with the massive shoes in black vinyl leather.
It is a study on classical Japanese culture perception through the prism of Western tradition. Personally, I find it very hard opposing the past and the present, the ornamental and the urban, but it feels like LITKOVSKAYA has managed to find that golden mean. It's fair to say, Litkovskaya is the queen of bold statements and pristine details.
