Please welcome Chanel Spring-Summer Haute Couture show, which was all about "an ice palace, a nightclub on another planet". Models appeared on the catwalk wearing boleros, long dresses, cropped bolero jackets, couture sneakers (costs around $6000), 1920 inspired gowns, boxy suiting, fanny packs. It felt like Karl Lagerfeld's creations were made for "ice princesses," as almost all of the showcased pieces were athletic, corseted and crystallized. I personally find these looks quite athletic and sportive. The color palette comes in metallics, silver, ivory, pink, mint green, golden, creme and of course pastels. Lagerfeld explained why he used sneakers, it's because in the history of fashion women appeared in ball gowns wearing flat shoes around 1800 to 1845 and I think this history inspiration takes the couture fashion on the next level, modern level.
