Since I myself am camera-shy, I forced my friend Jung Hee to pose in my new favorite for this fall: brogues. They can be paired with skinny jeans, a knee-length pleated skirt or even short-shorts. If you're going with the pleated skirt and brogue option, though, I'd leave out the stockings... don't want your legs to be too busy unless the top of your outfit is hideous!
Any my new personal favourite accessory? Leave the handbag at home and bring a book along! Seriously. I keep my keys and mobile in my pocket, and slip some quid in the pages along with my underground pass. I'm a habitual doodler and note-taker, always feeling inclined to scribble my own thoughts in the margins and underline interesting bits... so I usually stuff a pen in the pages, clipping it in securely as a make-shift bookmark.
And that's my Autumn Nerd 2011 look: matching colours are strictly prohibited, showing off skinny legs with some short-shorts (http://www.zalando.co.uk/edc-by-esprit-shorts-blue-ed121b00l-961.html) or throwing on a pleated skirt to cover up the wobbly bits, eyeglasses are a must, and of course an over-sized preppy school letter jacket or sweater. If you've got long hair, throw it up into a messy bun with a pencil or pen instead of a hair tie. And the best part of my nerd look, of course, is the book.
