Greek designer Mary Katrantzou delivers bold and feminine Autumn-Winter collection which is full of guipure lace, jacquards, pleats, brocades and chain mail. That's an intriguing collection which consists of decorated clothes in sculptural and straightforward silhouettes with digitally generated prints, which are inspired by the idea of uniforms (school, sports uniform). Models walked down the runway wearing tank dresses, long, narrow-sleeved gowns, undecorated coats, casual sweatshirts in lace and fur, minidresses and evening gowns with lace inserts and lean wool topcoats. The overall mood is fearless and barbaric, as we see handmade textiles, sparkling embroideries, like micro-patchworks and sequins.
For Mary Katrantzou the next spring-summer season is all about shoes, as she offers photoprints which look like abstract prints at the first sight, but if you will take a closer look at those colorful patterns, then you will see digital prints of what is worn on the feet. So, the next hot season is inspired by the images of footwear like men's brogues, sporty sneaker shoes. Anyway, let's have a look at those daywear streamlined silhouettes and cocoon-like shapes and evening polished and elegant designs. Models appeared in short and sweet dresses, jaunty shorts, roomy jackets, racer-style jackets, scuba dresses and bubble-shaped bustier dresses. I personally love that color palette of blue, green, yellow and fluorescent pink.
I'd like to share with you Mary Katrantzou Fall-Winter collection's runway show which featured her signature hallucinogenic color palette (love those beautiful landscapes) and architecturally stunning silhouettes. Here you will find billowing metallic dresses, big slashed sweaters, dresses with photo prints made of luxurious fabrics and other cocooned layers. Mary Katrantzou professionally connects fashion and art, indeed her creations are focused on shape, I'd say architecture of asymmetry. New Autumn season comes with reserved color palette of rainbow of monochrome, velvety black, soft grey and crisp white. I like that abstract print look: leafless tree against winter sky, looks a bit cold and scary to me.
Let me share with you Mary Katrantzou first resort collection which features designer's signature bright prints (reminds me of colorful postcards from around the world), her own photographs of Swiss Alps, French fields, Japanese bridge, railway station and more. Here you will see vivid color separates, strapless silk dresses, playsuits, biker jackets, sweatshirts in raffia or sheer mesh, dresses with flowy skirts. New pre-sprinf collection is so emotional.
Well, actually it's not a new trend, yet thanks to the latest spring collections- digital print became abstract, having contrast graphics and even canvas paintings are transferred on the fabrics of designers dresses and shirts. I like those colored spots that develop into intricate forms, floral patterns and the graphic mixes, so it's no surprise that those prints become a new digital-art. Here below you will find impressive and fashionable art creations from the likes of Peter Pilotto, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci and Mary Katrantzou.
Let's talk about trends. I think it's time to observe next autumn-winter season's trends for women. Today's trend observation is about women's top clothing with rounded shoulders. Every trend goes round and round, yet one of the strongest this season is the rounded shoulder trend, which was seen in lots runway shows.
Let me count them for you: Proenza Schouler, Victoria Beckham, Altuzarra, Donna Karan, Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane, Gucci, Mary Katrantzou all of them showcased rounded shoulder tops, coats, jackets and blouses. Here below you will find images that show this modern and spunky trend.
A hyperrealist aesthetic. MARY KATRANTZOU showcased her spring-summer 2013 collection of womenswear earlier at London Fashion Week. The show was amazing and fantastic: bold graphics, modern shapes, money, flower and postage stamp prints, new layers in other words it was fresh and clean. Models sported A-line swinging dresses, narrow trousers, boxy blazers, shirts with voluminous sleeves. All in all, Mary’s girl has liberated spirit and strong style.
Tribal Elegance. Mary Katrantzou presented colorful prints in her latest Autumn-Winter women's ready to wear collection. I like the architectural inspired shapes in her dresses and these abstract and vibrant prints. Hues ranged from ruby, emerald, yellow to sapphire blue. Overall, it's a creative collection.
