Husband-wife union Michael and Nicole Colovos’ behind Helmut Lang were inspired by satellite photos of Mars in the latest Autumn-Winter collection, which was titled Rough Terrain. I personally find it fashion-forward (I would even say futuristic) and exaggerated. Both designers played with Mars images creating abstract prints. The overall color palette is quite neutral, while we see some shots of red, which identify planet's surface. Models appeared on the catwalk wearing trans-seasonal pieces, like fluffy fur sweaters, tunic dresses, tailored separates, fur laser-cut sweatshirts, cocoon-shaped shearling jackets and stovepipe pants. Love the mix of futuristic touch with minimalistic chic. If you are ready for something new and daring, then Helmut Lang Fall collection is what really suits you the best.
Relaxed and menswear inspired comes in my mind when I see the latest Helmut Lang pre-Fall collection. Well, the pre-Autumn is all about layers and women's essential wardrobe pieces. Label's creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos were focused on fresh lightness and layering, so, we are about to see chunky cotton knits, short shift dresses with multiple hems, structured sweatshirts and coated linen blazers. My personal stand outs from the showcased pieces are leather blazers with wool sleeves, cotton jacket and cool shoes Colovoses and backless Oxfords. All in all, collection comes with elongated silhouettes and weightless fabrics.
Let's have a look at this monochrome with a notes of pink color Spring-Summer collection by Helmut Lang. The spring collection, which was showcased during New York Fashion Week, was inspired by the 1990's and contemporary artist Wade Guyton. Label's designers Nicole and Michael Colovos presented label's minimalist signatures, as well as there was a nod to menswear silhouettes. We see clean and straight lines, which make this particular collection look elegant and statement. My favorites from the show are strapless linen dresses, bright pink boxy organza slipdresses, unstructured black jackets and slip-on loafers constructed from perforated leather.
Michael and Nicole Colovos behind Helmut Lang presented commercial Resort collection of women's transitional wear, which is meant for women, who are looking for something that just slides into their wardrobes, but makes them feel like it's something new and straightforward. My favorites here are strapless dresses, short-sleeved sweatshirts, slick snakeskin-embossed coats, wool felt outerwear with technical nylon elements, T-shirt with hand-embroidered leather bits and black leather puffers.
Modern and Clean. Creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos behind Helmut Lang were inspired by Picasso’s "Black and White" exhibition at the Guggenheim and Richard Prince’s “Prince/Picasso” book in their latest Fall-Winter ready to wear collection. It looks like Helmut Lang is impregnated by art. Here you will find graphic, geometric patterns, graphic Cubist elements structured silhouettes that skim the body of wearers and sharply tailored looks. Models appeared in leather waistbands, multicolored coats, black coats with contrast notched collars in gray, short jackets with cross-body closures, double-breasted pantsuits, midnight blue rabbit fur jackets and folding leather dresses.
They came back in black. Looks like next pre-autumn season will come in dark shades. Lots of designers offer us black outfits in fitted and relaxed shapes. It seems to me, that season by season designers evolving their creations into more elegant and classic ones. My favorite ones are Rag & Bone's , Diesel Black and DKNY outfits, looks sassy.
Gray-scale urban Wear. Helmut Lang designers Nicole and Michael Colovos keep it quite, monochromatic and calm in pre-fall collection. Actually, I like that neutral ground feeling in these pre-autumn looks where colors are mostly ombre grays, blue and black. I would say it’s business wear. Model appear in boyish, slouchy and boxier silhouettes, sporting floor-length jersey dresses, granite-colored blazers, cropped leather jackets, linen pants with geometric patches.
Urban and Nautical. Nicole and Michael Colovos behind Helmut Lang presented their aquatic vision in the latest spring-summer collection. This time is not about edgy cool designs, yet about surf and turf, nautical urban clothes that referenced the ocean. Models appeared in slouchy, tapered pants, sharp blazers, two-toned aquamarine skirts, long-sleeved shirts, blouse-y jackets, motocross jackets, short, fitted dresses, color-blocked tank dresses, reversible leather jackets, straight shift dresses, boxy jackets, short suits were inspired by the illustrations of nineteenth-century German biologist Ernst Haeckel, which were reinvented in collaboration with tattoo artist Thomas Hooper. I am truly in love with colors and prints.
Modern and Urban. Helmut Lang presented its pre-Fall-Winter collection of interesting womenswear designs. For some of you this collection might seem to be a bit strange, but I like that spider web prints on clothing. Skinny jeans, featherweight sweaters, leather-trim chiffon dresses, leggings, jersey dresses all that you may find below. My favorite one is sharp-shouldered blazer and snug leather jacket.
