Donna Karan presented luxe and elegant Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 collection of gorgeous looks, which show us the real strength of the woman. The fall's show is a reflection of the past, present and the coming future, featuring dark and sensual looks in black, gray, white and sophisticated red touches. Models appeared on the runway wearing slinky and sensual silhouettes, including fluid gowns, silk chiffon gowns, bodysuits, Eastern inspired belted jackets, long-hair shearling coats, sophisticated puffers, sleek cashmere coats, cinched parkas, thigh-high suede boots and night porter caps. All in all, it's city collection which is both sensual and urban focused.
Donna Karan showcases its Pre-Fall 2014 collection of women's transitional clothing. Here you will see gorgeous and elegant looks, that are made of high quality fabrics, beautiful details and chic colors. Indeed, this is beyond gorgeous, as the sportswear staples are so feminine, timeless and precise, that I have one word to say, even two: luxe and rich. Let's take a closer look at those jackets and gowns, simply amazing. Every outfit was made with true care and precise tailoring. My personal favorites are tailored coat, crisp white shirts, languid black pleated skirt, white V-necks, and evening slinky gowns.
Platform summer sandals were always in the center of designers attention. Designers have always been experimenting with designs and shapes of these shoes. The main art trend to wedge sandals was given by Dolce and Gabbana, who accessorized shoes with paintings of flowers. The Alexander McQueen sandals are impressive and really look like a piece of art and I love those ones with bees and transparent plastic platforms that were filled with honeycombs. Here below you will find different wedge sandal designs from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, Emilio Pucci, Charlotte Olympia, Pierre Hardy, Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana and Stuart Weitzman.
Let's talk about trends. I think it's time to observe next 2013-2014 autumn-winter season's trends for women. Today's trend observation is about women's top clothing with rounded shoulders. Every trend goes round and round, yet one of the strongest this season is the rounded shoulder trend, which was seen in lots runway shows.
Let me count them for you: Proenza Schouler, Victoria Beckham, Altuzarra, Donna Karan, Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane, Gucci, Mary Katrantzou all of them showcased rounded shoulder tops, coats, jackets and blouses. Here below you will find images that show this modern and spunky trend.
It's All about Donna. Donna Karan presented her latest Autumn-Winter 2013-2014 collection which was all about pure elegance, luxe and rich colors. Designer explained new collection, which was titled “Sensual. Soulful. Sculptural” as “Absolutely Donna Karan. Can’t be anybody else.” Models appeared in beautifully sculpted coats, shag sweaters, black stretch jerseys, wrap skirts, evening dresses, layered shearlings, jersey body-dresses, pleated trousers, double-breasted coats. New collection features designer's first success, Seven Easy Pieces (innovative black bodysuit-based wardrobe). I tell you honestly, it felt like 1980's tailoring with modern appearance.
Dark Elegance. The latest Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2013 collection is entitled “Connecting the Dots”. Donna Karan' looks are about women's body and sculpture. Models wear sculptural shapes and volumes: curvy jackets, dresses over pants, high-waisted pencil skirts, flared skirts, bodysuits, body dresses, belted peplum jackets,cocoon-shaped shrugs and coats. Indeed, it's strong collection with simple palette white, black, gray and other hues. I might say it's urban, with classic pieces yet too elegant, sensual and feminine.
Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Autumn-Winter 2012-2013 collection is inspired by the work of Karan’s late husband and artist, Stephan Weiss. The Urban Zen woman looks self confident wearing label's sculpture and architectural shape inspired clothing. Take a closer look and see the details of handmade leather and metal jewelry. Overall, collection seems to be modern with menswear inspired cuts.
From Grey to Romantic Dark. Donna Karan named her spring-summer 2013 collection “Sunrise, Sunset”. For Karan urban clothes mean to be more languid, ethereal and softer. I like her mood for Spring- ethereal, as the color palette consisted of pearly gray or blush pink, dark blue. Models donned draped silk dresses in oyster gray, draped full skirts, fitted spiral sheaths, evening looks, like chiffon gowns, cropped jackets with three-quarter sleeves, cowled long dresses, navy blue gazar gowns.
Donna Karan showcased her DKNY line’s Spring-Summer 2013 fashion show during New York Fashion Week. Models appeared in yellow windbreakers, white cotton shirts and slouchy jeans, neon lemon yellow silk shirts, neoprene jersey dresses, black skinny jeans, yellow anoraks, rolled-down chambray denim jumpsuits, silk button-ups, distressed denim Bermuda shorts, coated-cotton blazers, oversize color-blocked car coats, neoprene-jersey racerback gowns, leather-trim circle skirts, baseball caps, leather knapsacks and wedge sneakers. Altogether, it’s a balance between femininity and urban athleticism.
Daytime Wearing. Donna Karan embraces its resort 2013 fashion collection of women's wear with a huge array of chic skirts, practical dresses which look stylish and elegant. Fashion models Josefien Rodermans, Josephine Skriver, Madison Headrick and Romee Strijd try on very classic color palette of traditional hues, like pink, black and white, silvery grey and taupe. What I really like in this beautiful collection are silhouettes, they are so ladylike. Some looks are embellished with crystals, fringe and other accessories. Although this collection is considered to be daytime, yet you can wear it at evening events or parties.
