Future Disco. It feels like Marlon Gobel has brought a retro-futuristic Spring-Summer menswear collection at NYFW Public Library at Lincoln Center. You’ll find here wide range of colors and fabrics: checkered prints, metallics. Marlon was inspired by psychologist Nicholas Humphrey’s The Biological Advantage of Being Awestruck and first man on the moon- Neil Armstrong. Truly, the first look, was something like a space uniform.
I felt like Marlon has recreated Kubrick’s Space Odyssey 2001 costumes. Male models appeared in spacesuit-inspired jackets, structured embroidered suits. impeccably tailored pants, jackets, and shirts, spacesuit looks, shimmering silk shirts, aluminum foil-like jackets, jewel-encrusted rocket-ship totes. It’s a stand out collection.
