It's all about men's hats. Just imagine: James Bond walks into the room and throws his hat on the rack, which stands in another corner of the room; Movie "Casablanca": where Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are at the airport, he wears trench coat and hat, so masculine, picturesque moment; Pierce Brosnan in "The Thomas Crown Affair," the same look.
Fred Astaire, Al Capone, Indiana Jones - all these characters can not be imagine without hat. And nowadays, this piece becomes important men's accessory.
Headpieces were born since medieval times, okay, the shapes and materials changed, yet from the beginning of XX century, there left two hats options in fashion: hat and cap (beanies). What is important to know, that the quality and style of the hat told about owner's status (as you know, the same is about watches, shoes or clothing)
Talking about companies and brands, I'd like to underline Italian fashion brand called Borsalino. The quality and style of Borsalino's hats was so qualitative and amazing, that in one moment, hat and Borsalino became synonims (even 1970's gangs movie with Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo was named 'Borsalino').
Borsalino was a small shop founded in 1857 by Giuseppe Borsalino, in 50 years it grew so fast, that by 1920, the factory was producing 20 million Borsalino hats, where 60% (!!!) of products were exported to America, France and England.
The real fame was thanks to America, where gangs from Italy wore these masterpiece hats. They were bootleggers, bank robbers, romantic knights, black "Ford", underground casino clubs, champagne, double-breasted suits, and hats.
According to Pitti Uomo, the hats will be in fashion for a long time.
