Start your spring off right by redesigning your rooms. For inspiration, look no further than the 2015 San Francisco Decorator Showhouse, where visitors are treated to a showhouse that is both traditional and unexpected. This time I want to introduce to you interior designer Kathleen Navarra of Navarra Design, who presents contemporary family room and kitchen. Navarra reinterpreted traditional elements for a colorful space.
The rooms are inspired by the home's traditional architecture, which was updated with a modern twist. The designer layered colors and patterns to create a warm communal space for a family to dine and relax.
The family room is filled with traditional base form furnishings colored in contemporary hues and patterned fabrics: warm browns, tea blues and pops of pink.
The traditional style of the kitchen is updated with a modern slab door and crisp white paint. Kathleen Navarra juxtaposes calacatta marble countertops, a marble mosaic backsplash and verre eglomise panels with rich brown enameled La Cornue range and richly saturated brown walls and flooring. The metal and wood bar counter is an unexpected element placed perpendicular to the cerused oak island.
